This one hit home for me on a few points.The triskelion group reminds me so much of the groups un America today that are calling for a civil war. Their ideas of a perfect America don't include most Americans. The visions Nameless has of the future that a few years ago would have seemed impossible, now seem frighteningly possible.SPOILER ALERT:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::The dogs are what really did me in and made me love Nameless and his crew even more. As someone who rescues and rehabitates animals, the puppy mill scenario behind this one hit hard. Its almost 4am and my dog is curled between my husband and I, she's almost 18 now. 14 years ago, she was tossed away and left for dead, she had been force breed for years, her teeth filed down to nothing so she couldn't d3fend herself against the other dogs or the people who tortured her, she had had multiple litters, she was 40lbs under weight and she would cower and cry so thin that she could wiggle her way under our bed to hide. For the past 14 years she has learned to trust again, to know unconditional love and to find joy in all things dog. Before her there was Beauty, she was force breed and when she became useles they tried to fight her, cutting her ears and tail off with scissors for fighting purposes. She was covered in scars and still despite what humans did to her she had nothing but love to give. The dogs I help are mostly pitbulls, one of the most over breed dogs in America today and most vilified. So this story of retribution for the dogs is one that i needed without knowing it. But it made it a tough read for me. Anyone who reads Koontz's works knows he has a soft spot for dogs and it was made clearer than ever with this tale.
